Philosophy:
In today's times we see poverty, unemployment, crime, and sickness rising and the number of resources are deteriorating. YGG Ministries has undertaken the task to help individuals and families become self-sufficient and also give back to others as they are learning to stand again. We believe this Global mission is imperative so that the future generations will benefit from a better world. Young & Gifted Global Ministries offers many opportunities for people to help those in less fortunate circumstances. "We have found that most people enjoy helping others, more than themselves." The bible tells us, “Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve (disciples) and said, "Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all."- Mark 9:35.
The Work:
Over the years, we have helped over 5000+ families receive healthy food through our Mobile Food Pantry partnership with Foodlink, Wegmans, Tops and Hegedorn's. We continue to assist families with furniture, clothing and household items in our “Community Free Store- Outreach.” We continue to help hundreds of families during extremely hard times with much needed school supplies, hygiene items, food, clothing and direct financial support. We are only able to do this work because of our STRONG Community Partnerships, COMMITTED Donors, FAITHFUL Sponsors and over 300 volunteers. .and we are forever GRATEFUL!
We have also provided a "safe haven" for youth fleeing from gun violence and provided 3 fresh and healthy meals a day during our Annual "Free Summer Empowerment Camp" for youth ages 3-10 through our partnership with Freshwise. We were also able to employ Highschool seniors to work our summer camp and attend our "Gifted Institute", teen leadership 6-week program, through our partnership with Rochesterworks! We are looking forward to DOING THIS AGAIN in Summer 2024!!!
Global Reach:
Our Global Footprint includes "Shoe Drives for Haiti" with Webster Schroeder, Greece Arcadia and Bishop Kearney High schools. Our Shoe Drives have helped provide inventory to over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs who sell the shoes to support their families. In turn, they help themselves out of poverty with a hand up, not a handout.
Locally:
During the holidays we continue to feed and donate food to 200+ families during our Annual "Feeding the 5000" Thanksgiving Dinner & Food Basket Give-Away. Throughout the years we operated our Manna Bread Delivery Van (bi-weekly) delivering food to senior citizens at Southview Towers, St. Joseph's, Open Door Mission and Cedarwood Towers, Powerhouse Ministries, and our county's sick and shut-in population.
We also offer "Free" Hair Cuts, spiritual and community resources throughout the summer at community events in partnership with GOD's Barber Ministry.
Opportunities to serve:
ON NOVEMBER 17TH, Our Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner will be held at Carter St. Rec Center, 500 Carter St., Rochester, NY at 4pm, it will be first-come, first served, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
